The meaning of a name...

Sina's house

Each of us in my little family is named after someone, whether it be our middle name or our first. Hannah's name is after one of the "greats" grandmas, Hannah Dyantha who came across the plains when she was a little girl. I love her story and couldn't resist on naming my little girl after her. Hannah's middle name is after mine which is Marie and after my aunt and great grandma DeYoung. Austin's middle name is after my dad's middle name, Kenneth, so for this new bundle of joy I decided we needed to do a Coe side ancestor. Faith is a name that hit me and trent when I was pregnant with Austin for our next child. My in laws gave me a book of ancestors on my mother in law Martha's side. I fell in love with Sina's story and decided that we would add a "e" in the name to make it Faith SIENNA coe. Here is Sina's story:

Sina's husband Hance had built them a house with eight rooms and a wide hall down the center. They only lived in the house for a short time when Hance was killed. "sina was scared if she was home alone when it became dark. She would gather the children around her and blow out the lamp. When she would hear Hance holler a mile off she would be brave and light the lamp. She was never able to sleep until Hance came home." The night Hance was killed, he had gone to get some medicine for his animals, Sina would later find out that a woman who was her friend who would come to visit, her husband had been the one who had killed Hance. She held no malice towards him and she was always able to visit with his wife while he would sit in his parked car outside of her home. After Hance died she no longer became afraid of being alone and decided that she needed to move their home. Sina started on Aug 2nd to do the "impossible" Sina took down her home and numbered each of the boards so that when she put up her house again it would become like a puzzle and put all the pieces back together. There was 15,000 lumber, 26,000 shingles, and 5,000 bricks for the fireplace that she had to take down. She would pack the wagon so tight that when it would get stuck she would have to unload everything, get the wagon unstuck and load everything back up! She had the house finished by Feb. She had a hard life and lost some of her children too early, but because of her faith she was able to keep going when everything seemed to be lost.

WOW! What a wonderful story. That will be great to someday be able to share that with your kids. DaKoda's middle name Adalee is after my great aunt Adaline. She was a wonderful lady. What a way to honor these great family members. Thanks for sharing her story.
